About

application security by day

In my day job, I work for a FTSE100 company as head of information security, concentrating on application security and compliance.

podcasting and amateur radio by night

As a podcaster, I’ve been podcasting for over 16 years. My main show is The Bugcast, a music and chat show which is streamed live every week. I also contribute to a number of other podcasts.

I gained my Foundation amateur radio license in April 2021, with the call sign M7TLB. I’ve spoken to other amateurs all over the world, completely over the air, and also assisted (bridged) over the internet.

musician, hacker, geek, FLOSS advocate

As a musician, I’m a bit of a multi-instrumentalist – many instruments, master of none. I play – with varying degrees of competence – drums, piano, and bass. I’m the drummer in a covers band in my local area. I’ve also been known to sing.

I have been looking for ways to give back to the hacker community for many years. I took part in Hacktoberfest in 2017 and 2019, and attended OggCamp in 2014, 2018, 2019, and 2024 (in October!).

husband, father of three

I’ve been married to Caroline for 21 years, and we have 3 utterly gorgeous children: Luke (18), Ethan (17), and Alex (11). We live in a small mining village in South Yorkshire, UK.
